Prehistoric times have left their mark on Dordogne-Périgord, especially along the Vézère valley. Traces of the past can be found everywhere as you visit local caves, museums and parks.

Lascaux, in Montignac, is the cave harbouring the most famous paintings in the world. It is listed as part of UNESCO world heritage.

Roc de Cazelle in Les Eyzies is a prehistoric park where you will discover some characters, animals, and rock shelters, and where you can attend workshops – flint knapping, fire lighting, cave painting, propeller throwing.

Les Eyzies houses the international pole as well as the prehistoric national museum.

Proumeyssac Cave near Le Bugue is also called the crystal cathedral. A sound and light show brings out the beauty of this underground vault.
